DE130 Mary Jennings | Mary Jennings Brings Us A New York/Nashville Sound

It takes a lot of life experience to craft engaging, universal song lyrics—and singer, songwriter and musician Mary Jennings has had more than a lion’s share. How’s this for a start: career stops as a teacher, aerobics instructor, clothing retailer, bartender, luggage saleswoman and paranormal researcher. Add to that the early loss of her mom , and there are plenty stories to share.

With an enormous singing voice that transcends her small frame, an extraordinary rock sound full of robust piano hooks, and a one-of-a-kind storytelling ability drawn from a remarkable and emotional history, Mary has carved out her own unique niche in the industry by doing things her way.

Born into a family with strong musical roots, she began playing piano at five and has fond memories of her paternal grandparents teaching her vocal harmonies at a young age – a skill that is very evident in her work today. Mary’s adolescent and teenage years were marked by her development on piano and the cultivation of her vocal ability through many school plays and musicals, but it was the sudden death of her mother in 2001 that prompted a seismic surge in her musical expression.

Whether you experience Mary Jennings on stage or on one of the handful of albums she has released, you’re witnessing a very special artist who has confidently found her voice over the course of a long, and at time, heartbreaking journey.

David Goddess | Goodness, It’s Dave Goddess!

Dave Goddess and his Group drives the lonely and twisted road to rock n’ roll redemption, shifting gears between truth-telling ballads and gasket-blowing screamers with regard for neither fad nor fashion, trend nor taste. Known for their soulful, sweat-soaked live shows, the band has built a devoted following in their hometown of New York City and beyond.

“Beautiful World,” their newest release, is a 5-song EP that ups the ante for sheer bravado. The feelgood title track soars high as Goddess shouts “Screw it, let’s do it!” Powered by their trademark urgency and sonic brawn, the band takes a stripped down approach to some reflective yet rockin’ material as goddess sings about freedom, regret, love, religion, and wanting to get laid.

Listen to Beautiful World:

The band never hides its love of classic rock, but somehow manages to make it sound modern. It’s painfully out of step, but somehow rides the bleeding edge. It wants to matter. It wants to make you think. It wants to rock your soul and break your heart.

Matt O'Ree | The Boss and Bon Jovi, Matt Keeps Good Company!

Matt's talent was recognized globally when he got the nod to join rock legends Bon Jovi as their guitarist/backing vocalist on their 2015 stadium tour.

He has also been recognized by the industry as a great guitar player. He won guitar contest hosted by BB King and John Mayer through Guitar Center and Guitar World Magazine. Matt beat out over 4,000 guitar players in that competition to win him the grand prize, multiple guitars and an endorsement from Gibson guitars, shopping sprees with Guitar Center and a car from Scion. This major accomplishment really sparked his career and the momentum for the future of the band.

Matt's writing is inspired from many life experiences and years of study from the ones that have wrote the book on how to play real guitar rock music. Not as a photocopy, but in a new light that hasn't been seen in quite some time. Now is the time for real music and real musicianship to make a resurrection.

Listen to Matt O'ree's Running Home

The Matt O'Ree Band

New Jersey's best kept secret is about to make some noise. Over the past few years, The Matt O'Ree band has done what most area bands do.

They've played their shows, developed their sound, released their records and very quietly built a local fan base in the process.

What makes this band different from all the others is that their local fan base includes Bruce Springsteen, David Bryan and John Popper (all of whom have volunteered to perform on the band's forthcoming album to be released later this year).

Growing up on influencers ranging from Jimi Hendrix, Cream, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Rory Gallagher, ZZ Top, Robin Trower, Joe Walsh and Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Matt O'Ree Band has taken all these diverse elements and forged a new iron.

The band takes their fans on a ride that hasn't been heard or seen at this level since the '70s. Their live show is like revisiting a Zeppelin concert at the Garden, and with Eric Safka on Hammond B3, Scott Bennert on bass, and John Hummel on drums, they've built a foundation that can hold up the biggest house on the block.

After years of honing their craft, the Matt O'Ree Band is about to become an overnight success. Get M.O.B.'d up with New Jersey's next great export.

Ashlinn Gray | Connecting Her Heart To The World Through Her Music

Talented singers are plentiful. Thought provoking songwriters are rare. Fortunately for Ashlinn Gray, she is both.

They say never give up on something that you can’t go a day without thinking about and for Ashlinn Gray – it’s music. Not only is she a passionate artist, but one that never gives up, risking it all to make her dreams come true. She is distinguishable by her powerful vocals, her deep seated lyrics, giving you the listener something to think about.

Listen to her song Battleships

Ashlinn began to write her first songs at the age of 16. Undeniably persistent, she is seeing the fruit of her works come to life. At 19, she released her self- titled debut EP, along with first single Battleships, which made iTunes top 40 and dominated the airwaves, charting on various stations across the country.

That doesn’t mean it’s been an easy road though. Growing up in an artistic family, along with a bevy of talented sisters, Ashlinn had to fight for her chance in the spotlight. She began drama, singing and piano lessons in Grade 4 and unlike her acting ability, singing didn’t come naturally.

Instead of being a deterrent, it became her motivator. Working closely with some of SA’s top vocal teachers, she practiced day and night to get her voice into shape. In doing so, she won the 2013 SA Championships of the Performing Arts title and proved anything is possible. She continues to capitalize on this philosophy to this day.

Jess Wayne | Sharing His Journey Through His Music

Jess Wayne (previously better known as Douglas Jessop) is a poet, writer, singer-songwriter and guitar player. He is living in Los Angeles and making music with a groove for adults who have lived and know that life is complex, messy, muddy, simple and beautiful - all at the same time. Jess Wayne’s music is a comfortable fusion of contemporary folk, chill blues, easy jazz and Americana music with “storytelling, wisdom and naked honesty.” The album was co-produced with noted Los Angeles arranger, composer and arranger John Matthew Rosenberg.

Listen to Jess Wayne's Better Get Used To It

Flashback to 2009, a successful corporate bankruptcy lawyer at the top of his game with his own law firm in Denver, Colorado, clients all over the world, a custom designed house on 20 acres in the country, and an Audi A8L. He had it made, right? No. The tsunami wave of the economy failure was ripping toward his firm and while other bankruptcy lawyers were out there saying “cowabunga dude” and waxing their surfboards for the ultimate ride - he took one long look and realized that his heart was Just Not That In To It. He was not going to explain bankruptcy reorganization for the zillionth time. He was not going to ride that wave. He had enough. His spouse, children, friends and colleagues thought he was crazy but he walked away. To where or what, he had no idea - something that resonated with the heart. He gave the house and its stuff to his wife and the car to his father. The start of freedom.

On how he got here or, at least, what took him so long, Jess still wonders. “I’ve played music and written poetry all my life but I did not recognize it as my heart’s desire. I had lived so long with my true self buried that I was like the little fish that upon hearing that the Ocean was all around him, blurts out ‘This? This is just water!’ Well, I’m grateful for the water now, and it’s a wild ride.”
